    Hi Michael,

We are glad to get your query on Microsoft Community.

With reference to the issue to uninstall any application or program in Windows 8, please follow the following methods:

    Method 1:

Uninstall an application from the Start Screen:

    1. On the Start Screen, type the name of the application you want to install.
    2. From the list select the required one and right click on the program.
    3. You will get different options at the bottom of the screen .Select Uninstall.

    Method 2:

You can also uninstall a program from the Control Panel:

    1. Press Windows and x key to open a task list from the bottom left corner of the screen.
    2. Select Control Panel.
    3. Select Programs and Features.
    4. Double click on the program you want to uninstall and follow the onscreen instructions.

I hope it would now be easier for you to uninstall any program .Please write us back if the issue still persists.

If, in Windows 8.1, I delete a program in the way described yet it still shows on the program list how do I remove it? On clicking uninstall it takes me to a web site and downloads an "uninstall" program.    My computer indicates a "do not enter" sign and says, "FindingDiscount Uninstall...exe is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous."

    Thanks.

per  your instructions to UNINSTALL a program from windows 8, re; your first suggestion, step #1: you say, "from start type the program you want to INSTALL"! Is that a typo???

whenever I try to write something, C:\window\system32/cnd/exe  and

    C:\program Files (X86) user extension\client exe

continue show up and cover my screen - How can I get this away, or can I?

I have a Window 8 - When I use your suggestion to do it from control panel, these programs are not listed.

Please do help me - Thanks, Mary

This was a very useful page. It exactly answered my question. Thank you.

The problem is how difficult it was to find this relatively simple task.

Windows 8 Control Panel is EXACTLY the same as previous Windows OSs - the only difference is that they made it practically impossible to find.

Instead of wasting our time on pointless tiles that do nothing, they need to focus on getting the basics right. That includes make it straight forward to remove the free Trial MS Word because it prevents the full Office suite from installing.

    What a mess.

Please get it right next time.
