why does my word not allow me to type anything on any documents, i have a valid microsoft license

whenever i open up word and try to type anything or edit a document in the bottom left it has a message that pops up, the message says, you cant make changes because this section is locked, is there any way someone could help me resolve this issue.

    Do you see this in a particular document, only? In that case, document protection is one possibility, as Sophia Papadopoulos has already suggested.

    If all documents are affected, a licensing issue is likely. If you have a subscription, first verify that the subscription is active by signing in to your account at https://account.microsoft.com/services. Fixing the issue may be as simple as signing out and then signing back in to an Office application.     As per the description shared, I would like to confirm whether you are encountering the following prompt when you try to edit the Word document: If my understanding is correct, I would like to let you know that the most possible cause of the problem is caused due to the restriction applied on the Word document:

    Open the problematic Word document> Review tab> Protect> Restrict Editing> Stop Protection> Enter the password to unprotect it.
