Windows 7 - "My Documents" Folder

I have Window 7 (32 bit). I have created the following folder C:\MyName Documents (where MyName is my first name). Intermittently the file will be renamed to My Documents. Is the OS doing this and is there some way to stop this? I do not want this file put under C:\Documents and Settings*My user name*/My Documents. I have been using Windows since version 2 and Windows is becoming a nuisance in this type of behavior. I realize that Windows is becoming a “touchy-feely” OS and is made for the least common denominator user but if it is fate that Windows will become a want-to-be Mac OS, I will change to Mac.

In Windows7 the Libraries/Documents location shown is simply a pointer to the real location.

Its perfectly possible to move, the Documents location to a new location.

Simply creating a Doc folder at some location will cause confusion as at every stage when you save or search for Docs it will default to the win Documents location.

You need to move/redirect the current Libraries to your desired location and not simply create a new folder

    Thanks Ron for the reply.

I guess I didn't make my question clear.

I called the file specificaly 'C:\Chets Documents'. Intermittently when I go to save or look for files in that folder it has been renamed C:\My Documents. The question I have is this something that Windows has done? I know that I didn't do it by mistake or intentionally.

Per the other reply from Palcouk, I understand about Windows 7 technique of Libraries/Document pointers, which I dislike intensly, but when I create a file named C:\Chets Documents and place it in the root of my drive, I don't expect Windows to be changing file and folder names that I created purposely for my own use.

Maybe this is something Microsoft expects users to live with and nothing can be done to stop this behavior. It may be time to change to UNIX or Linux.

    Hi

The folder names 'My Documents' and 'Documents' are reserved for the operating system.

Try another name such as Personal Documents.

    Regards
