My USBHUB.SYS file is corrupted and I need to replace. Please advise.

My USB ports do not work. The USBHUB.SYS file is corrupted and I need to replace.  The system does not allow me to remove.  Please advise as to how I can replace the corrupted file so my USB ports will function.  Note:  My HP laptop is a Windows 8 operating system.  Thank you.

1. Are you getting "USBHUB.SYS file is corrupted and I need to replace" as an error message? If yes, when exactly do you get the error message?
2. Since when are you facing this issue?

You may try these steps and check if that helps:

Method 1:

Let’s perform SFC Scan on the computer and check for any missing or corrupted system files.

a. Press “Windows Key + Q” to open Charms Bar.

b. Type “cmd”without quotes in the search box.

c. On the left pane, right click on the “cmd” option and select “Run as Administrator”.

d. Type ‘sfc /scannow’ without quotes and hit enter.

Note: It may ask for windows installation DVD to fix and to enable SFC to make more than minor repairs. Some files saved on your computer might get deleted when fixing corrupted files.

Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers

To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

a) Hold Windows key + X.

c) Click the Device Manager.

d) Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

e) Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

f) Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.

g) Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

To first respond to Your questions:

           --> I was not getting an error message.  My USB ports merely stopped working, so I went  into 'device manager'

and discovered the usbhub.sys file was corrupted.

1. Since when are you facing this issue?.

           --> I struggled with the problem for about a week before I sought assistance via the Community.

After completing the steps outlined in Method 1 below, the issue is now resolved.

What can i do i have the same problem here but i running desktop and my desktop cannot work with any usb port i cannot controll mouse or keyboards! What can i do? Please help
