Hi,

Thank you for the post.

Windows Vista and 7 setup log files are located in different locations on the hard disk. The Panther directory is one of them.

If you performed an upgrade installation of Windows the Panther folder can easily fill up multiple gigabytes. Deleting (or renaming it at first) showed no negative effects.

C:\Windows\Panther directory is used during the installation of Windows.

Hope this helps.

They said multiple times that you CAN delete it. I've deleted \Panther on my Win10 AW m14xR1 after upgrading from Win7 with no negative effects.

    It just takes up space.

Hi this is an old post.  However, I just recently installed Windows 10 on my old Vista Laptop that I was running Windows 7 on.

    Apparently it's a virus.

Could you please confirm this and either assist me with the cleanup procedures or direct me to a place where I can learn.

Also, I've been away from PC Security Maintenance for some time.  I would really like a tip or two on a reliable Free (at this time) Antivirus, Antispyware, Firewall, Deep Scan w/ clean?,

And lastly, could you please tell me how I might be able to check the Router Security on our Building's Internet.  I am the default system administrator both because the modem is physically located in my suite (total of 3 apartments streaming, connecting to our Telus Optics internet connection).

Problem is as follows.  The landlady includes the internet with all of our Rents.  However she has been seriously warned reprimanded and threatened by Telus (our ISP) and by the RCMP about Copyright infringements and Illegal **** Porn depicting the **** of women and the violating and assault of minor children.  The ISP informs that the account holder is liable for civil and criminal charges.  The landlady asked us all to stop any innapropriate activities.  It didin't stop and there were repeat occurences.

My question:  Is there a way for me or for Telus (isp) to identifiy the guilty PC/devices with their IP addresses?  Maybe the party is not aware of law.  Or maybe someone has hacked our feed in one of the surrounding buildings.  Or was a guest or former tenant messing around.

We were told that further criminal activities will be met with loss of internet for entire Address and that charges will be pressed.

Please help me with my **** questions.  Like I said.  It's been a very long time.  And I need some help please.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Regards,

    Jennifer
