Removed avg add-on from Internet Explorer/Mozilla but cannot remove the avg safeguard toolbar from Programs in Windows7. Does any one have any ideas? Typed config that took me to Net Frame, no go.  Thanks.

i had the same problem I tried the little thing that avg had to remove it but it didn't work but I managed to remove it at the by uninstall not remove it by registry. what I did (Firefox) was enable it and restart to have it work then I clicked on the down arrow on avg at the left side, it'll give you junk about rate, this and that. at the bottom or so, it should say remove or hide: click it then a window open to say to 'hide and disable it (recommended)' or 'uninstall'. click uninstall and restart. you may get a open browser saying 'sorry to see you leave'. by startup of firefox it should be gone. it worked for me when AVG was clueless about it. I hope it works for you

ADWcleaner got rid of this for me!  Took 12+ hours with Norton Antivirus reps who could not get this off my pc but ADW CLeaner did!  Thank you!

Had same problem. Here's what I ended up doing:

    1. Deactivate/Remove all AVG browser addons/extensions, etc. Remove what AVG programs you can through Control Panel (Uninstall)
    2. REMOVE ALL AVG folders/files from C:\Program Files\AVG* & C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVG*

If you can't remove one specific file, go into folder & remove all the rest. Not all files will allow removal at this time (no worries).

    1. EMPTY ALL TEMP FILES/FOLDERS @ C:\Windows\Temp

If you can't remove one specific file, go into folder & remove all the rest. Not all files will allow removal at this time (no worries).

    1. Again - go to Control Panel & try to uninstall - it should allow the removal from program list at this time (not completely gone yet)
    2. Reboot.
    3. Download a "File Unlocker" program that allows you to unlock processes that are currently in use.
    4. Go back to all folders from steps 2-3 - unlock any files you cannot delete (one file at a time). Once the correct process has been killed, remove ONLY THAT file & affiliated parent folders. Try to delete all other files again - many will be unlocked just by killing that one process (will free up all files that are affiliated with same process). Repeat step 6 until all affiliated AVG files/folders are gone!
    5. Once all files/folders from steps 2-3 are gone, EMPTY TRASH, DOUBLE CHECK your Temp folder & all Files/Folders from Steps 2-3 & REBOOT.
    6. This worked for me 100% on Chrome & FireFox. Internet Explorer still showed AVG Security Toolbar available through toolbars & Add-ons, but says "control name is not available". ie: You may have to re-install Internet Explorer (or any other browser if they still show up anywhere) to completely remove the AVG options (Be sure to export your favorites/bookmarks before you uninstall browser/s).
