Original title: Download folder location change accident

Hi there,

I was trying to change the location of my Downloads folder (and eventually, music, video, documents, etc. as well) from my SSD drive to my HDD, and used the properties>location>change location tool using my HDD root as a destination, however my Downloads folder has now been merged with my HDD root. I've found people with similar issues but solutions were specific to the folder (i.e. user profile).

Is there any way to reverse this? And if so, is there a way to change the location of library folders (Music/Docs/Pictures/Videos/Downloads) so that it is recognised by the OS?

    Hi tzioup,

Thank you for the detailed information. You can the move folders to default location, this might help you in restore the proper setting.

Move the location of library folders to default and check if that helps. Refer to these steps:

    1. Go to file/folder explorer.
    2. Right click on folder and then click on Properties.
    3. Click on Location tab.
    4. Click on Restore Default.
    5. Save the changes by clicking on Apply and Ok.

Hope this helps. Please do let us know if you need further help.

    Hi Ganesh

Thank you for your reply. This would appear to be helpful, however now that I changed the location to the root of my hard drive, when I try to restore to default I get a warning message saying that all of the files from the old location (D:) will be moved to the new one (C:\users\me\Downloads).

I obviously do not want to transfer my entire hard drive into that folder!

Is there a way around this?

    Thanks

    t

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

Did you face any issue after moving the downloads folder to HDD?

As you were moving Downloads folder to HDD drive, there won’t be any issue. The method you have used will help you to move a particular folder, not a whole profile. If you come across any issue, you can use the suggestion provided in the 1^st^ response to move the download s folder to default location.

Please do let us know if you need further help
