Can Azure Purview share a self-hosted Integration runtime that is being used by a Data Factory in my subscription?

Hi @Sohini Garg , Just confirmed and also it has been called out in public documentation as a limitation that the Purview Integration Runtime cannot be shared with an Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory Integration Runtime on the same machine. It needs to be installed on a separated machine. If you have any feedback on this, I would recommend you to please submit a feedback/feature request in Azure Purview user voice forum . All the feedback shared in this forum are actively monitored and reviewed Azure Purview product team. Also please do share the feature request link here so that other users with similar idea can up-vote and/or comment on your suggestion. Thank you so much for following up on this. The documentation you shared states "Purview Integration Runtime cannot be shared with an Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory Integration Runtime on the same machine." We are not trying to share a Data Factory Integration Runtime that is on the same machine, but rather one that is in the same subscription. This feature is similar to how different ADFs can share the same Integration Runtimes.

Thanks for your response. "Can Azure Purview share a self-hosted Integration runtime that is being used by a Data Factory in my subscription?" - Form this statement my understanding was, you are trying to share the ADF used SHIR with Azure Purview. Sorry if I misunderstood your requirement.

Unfortunately you cannot share/re-use the existing SHIR with your Azure Purview instance if it is already being used by another azure resource (like ADF/Synapse). Current available option is to spin up a new VM and install SHIR and pair with Purview instance (You can use the same SHIR associated with your Azure Purview instance for scanning different sources).
