Hello everyone,

I am truly hoping someone can help me.  I have a Gateway NE56R41U 64-bit laptop with a Windows 8 OS.  2 days ago, I tried to restore it to the original factory setting and the message I typed in the Title section is what came up.  I tried downloading the Recovery disc, which, by the way, there are 3 of them and 1 systems disc, but a blue screen kept popping up and this is what's displayed:

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

What I typed in the Title section

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media.  If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your

system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press Enter to try again

Press F8 for Startup Settings

Press ESC for UEFI Firmware Settings

I can't get the Recovery disc to upload.  Any time I press any of the options, it brings me back to this blue screen.  I don't know what else to do

and I'm surely not going to pay Gateway half of the value of my laptop.  Does anyone know what to do concerning this error code?  Thank you

in advance.

Thanks for the help.  I found out through a friend that by pressing the Alt and F10 key, it'll take me

to a blue screen with options, including resetting my laptop to Factory Default, which I did.

Everything turned out ok until from time to time, it seemed like the computer would reset itself

because it might have been missing some things, which I can't even tell you - it would go to Self Diagnostic then Automatic Repair.

Well, I tried to reset it again to Factory Default, thinking it might pick up whatever was missing.

Now, I'm completely locked out of Windows 8.  It keeps taking me back to that blue screen

with options.  I must have changed something when I pressed F2, which is the Setup Utility grey screen,  I'm not sure if I changed anything it the Main, Security or Boot segment of the screen.

Now I'm locked out of Windows 8.  Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this problem?

    Hi Vince,

Based on my research I have found that pressing ALT & F11 at the same time can get you to the factory reset window. At this point of time Gateway is the best point of contact, because recovery consoles and partition affairs are better handled by the OEM or the manufacturer. Hope the information makes things clear. Please let us know in case you need any help on issues related to Windows.

It's a Gateway NE56R41U.  I have the Recovery Discs, 3 of them, plus 1 Systems Disc.  I don't know where or what the Recovery Partition Manual is and I've already contacted Gateway, but there charging me a$99 one time fee since I'm out of warranty.

    Hi Vince,

What is the make and model of the laptop?

You can refer to the Recovery partition manual to perform a complete Factory Reset. You can also get in touch with the manufacturer of the laptop for assistance.

    Hi Vince,

    1. When you say "I tried downloading the Recovery disc" from where did you download?
    2. Do you have recovery partition installed on the computer?

Sometimes instead of blue screen of death (BSOD), we get errors of similar codes from boot manager. This errors are resultant of damaged files due to changes made by software. One of these error is***“0xc000000f* – The Boot Selection Failed Because A Required Device Is Inaccessible“.

I would suggest you to contact Gateway to get the Recovery discs and then follow up with the following troubleshooting steps:

I would suggest you to perform a startup repair using Windows 8 bootable DVD or USB drive/ Recovery disc and check if that helps.

    a) Insert the installation DVD or USB and boot Windows 8 from it.

    b) In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.

    c) Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select **‘Troubleshoot’.**d) Click on ‘Advanced options’ and select ‘Automatic Repair’ and select the operating system.

Hope it helps. Please get back with the issue status.
