multiple instances of ravbg64.exe

After browsing my processes through my task manager I've found that I have about 5 instances of the same RAVBg64.exe running at the same time. I know that at least one of these are legit but I am not sure of the others. Also many of my steam games have started to have massive frame drops. Are these additional files viruses?

Sunbro

That process is your realtek.  I would install the newest driver available even if it is the same date becuase drivers do become corrupt

There are quite a few threads with issues in that driver.

RAVBg64**.exe, Realtek HD Audio Background Process, ... that RtkNGUI64.exe is eating up 13% of my Core i7-2720 2.2Ghz system.**

    It appears to be starting multiple instances of the program with different command line switches.

    I have three instances running, and here's partial printout of relevant entries from registry key

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

    "RtHDVBg_Dolby"=""C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe" /FORPCEE4"

    "RtHDVBg_LENOVO_MICPKEY"=""C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe" /LENOVO_MICPKEY"

    "RtHDVBg_LENOVO_DOLBYDRAGON"=""C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe" /LENOVO_DOLBYDRAGON"

    BTW, to avoid confusion (because this was originally posted as a Windows 7 problem, this computer is Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro running Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10586.14. So the multiple instance behavior of this driver program seems to have been similar for a long time.

    Hope this helps, Bob
