You should be able to use virtual nodes, let me know if you see any issues using Private AKS with ACI running with virtual nodes.
we are hitting below limitation for aks with virtual node in private vnet
DaemonSets will not deploy pods to the virtual node
Using service principal to pull ACR images. Workaround is to use Kubernetes secrets (we have only option to use SPN)
Got the confirmation that ACI is already supported with Private AKS.
The docs are in the process of getting updated soon. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
