Vertical scroll bar not working properly on Internet Explorer 11

The vertical scroll bar is not working properly on favourites menu for example. When you scroll down through the favourites before you can click on your choice, it bounces back upto the top.

I have windows 7, IE11 and java. I saw similar query for vista and the suggestion was to click "smooth scrolling" in the advanced options section, but this was already clicked.

It is very frustrating.

Something similar happens under the Start/all programmes vertical bar but not as bad.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your response and I apologize for the delayed response.

Have you tried a different mouse?

Disabling caret browsing option might fix the issue. Caret browsing is a feature in Internet Explorer also called keyboard navigation, that puts movable cursor on the screen and you can navigate using the keyboard buttons. This feature sometimes reduces the mouse sensitivity.

To disable caret browsing.

  1. Press Windows key + letter ‘R.’
  2. Type the command inetcpl.cpl.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Accessibility, uncheck the option “Enable caret browsing for new windows and tabs.”
  5. Click Apply and OK.

Check if it helps. If the issue still persists, use an alternate mouse and check if the problem persists.

Please reply to us with the results and we will be happy to assist you.

    Hi Paul,

    Thank you for the response

We appreciate the effort you took to troubleshoot on the issue.

Method 1: I would suggest you to scan your computer for viruses using Microsoft safety scanner to check if there are viruses in the computer. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software to scan the computer you can click on the below link.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 2:  You can try to check the behavior in clean boot. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1. You can refer the below link to  perform a clean boot on the computer.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Please reply cack with the results. We would be glad to help you.
