DEVICE MANAGER SHOWS EIGHT ENTRIES FOR MY PROCESSOR AND ACPI

Question

I have Win7 Pro 64 installed on my Dell desktop.  I recently had to have my C: drive cloned as my hard drive diagnostics stated my C: drive was going to crash at any time.   I do not know what my Device Manager under Processors looked like before but I can not imagine that EIGHT entries showing:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz

This is repeated 8 times ... I did delete the 9th then began to worry.

I am also seeing multiple entries under SYSTEM DEVICES

ACPI Fan shows up 5 times

ACPI Thermal Zone 2 times

UMBus Enumerator 2 times (another for Root Bus Enumerator)

The reason I was looking at the Device Manager was when I had them clone my C: drive to the new hard drive, I also had them install an ethernet card as I needed two ethernet ports (one internet and one for an embroidery machine) ... the new eithernet port (card) was not working so I was hoping to find something in the Device Manager to show me a problem with the card ... can't even find an entry for it.

I am scared to delete these but thought this might be a problem with my system running so slow.

It is normal for a Intel i7 to show a eight processors in the Windows 7 device manager.

There are 4 cores and each core is hyper-threading.

With hyper-threading, each core is running a parallell path which makes it look like two processors.

What about APCI multiples ... is that connected?

I really am not sure about the ninth entry but as long as your system is function normally, I wouldn't worry.

When you reboot the computer anything that was uninstalled should be found again.

Since I have a different system, I can't comment on the exact number of other entries but I believe what you are seeing is normal.

For the Ethernet card, you might try reseating it inside the computer.
