Hi,

Would appreciate any help on resolving this issue.

I keep getting this error on all Office 365 apps"

"We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. (Office 365 application) will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?"

I tried many times Quick Fix, Online Repair, Uninstall and Reinstall (Office 365) but nothing worked. I started having this problem when I switched to Windows 11.

Hi Igor,

I have the same problem. It happens with every office app and every file, including new files. I've tried the repair options and opened in safe mode and still get the same error.

The error message may also pop up when the Excel workbook gets damaged or corrupted due to sudden power failure, system crash, malware/virus intrusion, or MS Excel problem caused by an incompatible add-in or program file.

Try these methods to troubleshoot and resolve We’re sorry, but Excel has run into an error.

Method 1: Disable Compatibility Mode

• Right-click on Excel (.exe) file and choose Properties. You can find Excel (.exe) file at the following location.
• Click on Compatibility and then uncheck all the boxes. Click OK to save the changes

Now try to open MS Excel or XLS/XLSX file and check if the workbook opens. If it doesn’t, follow the next method.

Method 2: Repair MS Office Installation

• Open Control Panel and click on ‘Uninstall a program
• Select MS Office from the list and then click on ‘Change’
• Choose the ‘Repair’ option and then proceed with the wizard to repair the MS Office installation

If this doesn’t fix the issue, you may need to remove all MS Office files and registry keys from the system. Then fresh install the MS office.

Does this happens with every file, even with new empty book? If yes, try to run excel in safe mode (excel /s command). If this happens only with a few files. try to use Open and repair option.

Hi,

I posted the first question on this thread. With the help of EricT_0620 from this community (thanks EricT-0620) I was able to fix the problem.

I used the "Reset" option. It fixed the problem but it took a lot of time because I had to reinstall all the Non-Microsoft app that did not come with my laptop, (e.g., Chrome, Google, etc)
