Psdprotect.dll with description egisPSDP from company Egis Technology Inc. belonging to product MyWinLocker.

My winlocker is probably the culprit.  I would remove it

I finally found a solution to the problem of copy and paste in Windows Explorer. I uninstalled 'My Winlocker'.

Click on 'Start', click on 'Control Panel',  click on 'Programs and Features', right-click on 'My Winlocker' and uninstall. Restart the computer and try to copy and paste.

Let me know if this worked for you too!!

In the latest batch of monthly updates 3 of the 4 KBs I previously mentioned re-appeared, rather than the 4 I expected. 2 of them had new issue dates of 14 June.  None were now "optional". I installed them with all the other "important" ones. Lo & behold

    • back to the pspdprotect crash.  Rather than system restore, this time  I used the "uninstall" feature successively.  By this means I have determined that the offending update is KB3123862, which Kaspersky indicated included a new version of File Explorer.  This download had the new issue date on it, too, much to my disappointment.

What this means for future updates doesn't bear thinking about - having to check each & every one is not an attractive proposition.

I take the point on Windows 10.  I have another PC with 10 on it - very unimpressive - unless there is an improvement by the time Win7 support is withdrawn I suspect I too will be looking elsewhere.

Clearly the latest Microsoft update caused this issue. The same four updates were in my latest update. Had I been using MyWinlocker I would have removed them.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Microsoft to accomodate MyWinlocker or even say which update is the culprit. Egis might update MyWinlocker.

Microsoft are becoming progressively more aggressive trying to drive Win7 users to Windows 10. Time to look at a Mac?
