The Office 365 Hybrid Configuration wizard gets to the Hybrid Agent Setup step.
The Hybrid Agent is downloaded and installed but then fails at the 'Register Hybrid Agent' step.
The HCW log from %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Exchange Hybrid Configuration\ has the below details:

I have tried the below but the issue continues:
- Uninstalled the Hybrid Agent then run the HCW again
- Install the Hybrid Agent manuall and then run the HCW again
I don't see any issue with the Office 365 GLobal Admin credentials I am using, as I can logon to Office 365 using then and they are accepted in the first step of HCW.

2020-05-18T10:31:25.453+00:00 We've gone with Classic Hybrid rather then Modern Hybrid with agent as need to progress with a migration.
Recently found out a colleague had install the Hybrid Agent without issue in March, the only change we have made to the Exchange since is install Windows Updates.
I have raised this query in Technet and with Office 365 support, no solution as yet.
If I find one I will add it here. -

I have also opened a support request at O365.
In January I was able to run the Hybrid Wizard. Now we have a new mail domain that I wanted to add and the wizard fails.

Running HCW the previous day was getting past this step just fine. I'm a little confused as to what has changed.
The only change I personally have made is changing the Exchange Auth cert as the wizard was falling to complete the setup of OAuth but now I can't even get that far and I dont see why the auth cert would have this affect.

Jorge Rodriguez 1 Reputation point2020-05-18T11:13:46.927+00:00 Hi, this problem started on may the 14th, I've been from this day trying to install the agent with no luck, and until I came here I was driving crazy because I believed it was a problem with my account.
What's the difference between installing the agent and not installing it? I need to migrate some mailboxes in a controlled way, some are going to be migrated but not others.

2020-05-18T15:34:49.88+00:00 I am able to install the Hybrid Agent, but it fails to register with Office 365.
My understanding is the Hybrid Agent takes over communication between on-premise EXCH and Exchange Online thus making implementing a Hybrid far simpler as don't need to have EXCH components published to the internet along with certificates from a public CA.
Essentially, Modern Hybrid using the Hybrid agent.Classic Hybrid doesn't use the Hybrid agent, so it is more complex as you need certain Exchange services published to the internet etc.
