Task Sequnce fails with 0x80041002, cannot deploy machine

Hi,

our SCCM Server is not working properly. I cannot deploy a client. The TS starts and gets to "Install applications" step and the VM restarts:

By first restart the VM needs couple of minutes to continue the TS, this is also something that did not happen before.

This started as far as i know after I applied the monthly server 2019 updates but it does not have to be the source of the problem. I am just mentioning it.

The smts.log throws this:

By various articles on the internet I came across statesys.log on SCCM Server and this came up:

I tried deploying a laptop with a different TS - same result.
I tried creating a new machine object in AD - same result.
I have created a brand new VM in Hyper-V - same result.

Please help!

There is no restart between those steps.
The step "Setup Windows & ConfigMgr" has a reboot embedded in it. The Step itself triggers the restart. 5 minutes is not uncommon. Hi Gary,

thank you for you answer. In my TS the restart happens however. Do you want me to attach some logs? One one laptop it took 13min before the TS came to "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step.

I'm sorry, I didn't see your initial comment above the first picture, which meant my entire first comment was out of context.
I see the same thing in our VMware environment when running OSD when it comes to long restart times. We install many applications and have several restarts, and it does take several minutes between the restart and the time the CM Client initializes to continue installing the next application.

If you disable the installation of the applications, the TS works properly?

1.Please help check if the problematic client is in provisioning mode. Refer to:
SCCM Clients Stuck in Provisioning Mode

2.Could we find any further information in the execmgr.log?

3.Is the task sequence deployed as Required purpose? If yes, please change it to Available to have a try.

Hi Simon,

thank you for your answer. The culprit was the corrupted Windows 10 image which I updated with February Windows 10 updates prior to this error.
After I extracted a new .wim file from Windows 10 .iso it worked like before.

I want ask you just one one thing, according to you knowledge is it ok that the automatic restart that happens after "Apply Network Settings" and before "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" takes up to 5 minutes? I don't know why but I have the feeling that this didn't take this long before.
