I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. When I plug in in I cannot play audio as on testing it says "the device being used by someone else". When I remove the usb from the laptop it causes a BSOD saying SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and ffusbaudio.sys caused the error.

What is the make and model of your computer?

First, run the Playing audio troubleshoot - open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

    Scroll down, select Playing audio

    Click Run the troubleshooter

When complete, restart your computer then check if audio is working again.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

    Right click your audio adapter

    Click Properties

    Click the Driver tab

    Is there an option rollback?

    If so, click it.

Open Start, type: change sound card

    Select the Playback

    Right click your Speakers

Click Set as Default Device if it isn't already

    Select your speakers

    Click Properties

    Click the Levels tab

Use the slider to adjust level

I tried all of that but nothing worked. I found a workaround though. Here's what I did-

    1. Play a youtube video with the soundcard unplugged. It played through the laptop's inbuilt speakers or whatever default device.
    2. While it is playing, I plug in the audio interface's USB and it magically starts to play through the interface.
    3. Stop the video and do whatever. Everything works!

This shows it's definitely a software glitch. Maybe my laptop's fancy Dolby drivers or something are interfering? I'll try uninstalling all of them... Let's see what happens. Any other solutions are welcome!

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300.

    Specs-

    Core i7-7700HQ

    16GB DDR4

    GTX 1060 6GB

    256GB SSD

I am on the latest drivers for my audio interface. Everything used to work just fine with my previous laptop lenovo g580. It is with this new Acer helios 300 that Im facing this issue.

Also I've updated all my drivers and windows.

Hi Saksham, as you probably guessed, the minidump file indicates your Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver as the culprit for this Blue Screen . . .

Try updating the driver for this device from the manufacturers website:
