Changing Primary Microsoft Account on Windows 10 PC

I have recently created a new Microsoft Account under a new email address and wish to change it to the primary Microsoft Account used for my Windows 10 PC.  I have tried adding my new account as part of the 'family' on my laptop and deleting my old account from the family, however it did not delete my old account from the family, even though my new one is now added.  This means that I have to give the permission of my old account to uninstall/edit apps and files when I log in through the new account.  Any advice on how to change my new account to my primary one would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Zahra.

    Hi Zahra,

Since the Microsoft account was registered in our database as your online credentials, you can still use it to your other devices in the future. This means that you can remove the Microsoft account login on your laptop without deactivating it.

In order to set a new primary Microsoft account on your computer, you will need to remove all linked accounts first.

To do this, follow these steps: Press Windows + I to open Settings, then go to “Your email and accounts”. Select the account that you want to sign out and click Remove.

After removing all, add them again. Set the desired account first to make it the primary account. Then continue adding all other child profiles under your primary account.
