This question has been asked a number of times with absolutely no reply.

Issue is?

Win 10 1609 home - If I go into admin/services/windows update and disable has no effect as it auto downloads as an app not as an update.

Sneakey? I am Not sure but obviously NOT.

Look at new updates and its is not there but look at new apps and there it is. Even after re-imaging system to a time when this KB did not exist.

Tried wshideshow and it is not there so cannot hide it.

 -

troubleshooter says -wifi does not have a valid IP connection - running troubleshooter again then gives - website (www.m===s===.com) is on line but isnt responding to communication attempt.

All the ipconfig and netsh commands do not work. Resetting router does not work.

No reply from msoft and nothing on the net yet but 160 peeps have reported this issue since release oct 2017.

Very tiring to re-image and reset up drivers etc only to see this KB back.

Update 1790 kills my toshiba bluetooth so no help there.

HP laptop on win 10 pro 1709 is ok and no issue.

What to do now to prevent it from downloading and updating win10 as it kills my internet and no way i know of fixing ?

Nice to see all the replies and I thank all for their responses but unfortunately none are suitable.

As I wrote - this KB is not an update so wshideshow  no good.

Hide and block an update is useless with regard to the KB being installed as an app, NOT an update. Not sure how many times i need to write this.

    netsh and ipconfig no good.

reloading drivers, system restores - no good.

A re-image to a time before KB release needs a method of stopping the KB from being installed and running as an app immediately the reimage finishes and before i reconnect the internet.

Pity those replying do not read my post as I have already tried all suggestions and all are NO good.

I dont want V1709 which kills my bluetooth so no good. I assume the 'latest media' of my version is 1709 and I dont want it installed as it kills my bluetooth.

Indeed a reimaged v1609 runs ok but for how long?

I have managed to delete the KB as a deleted app and so far all is ok. So that alone indicated that all those suggestions above are not suitable. Standard answers do NOT truly and accurately address my issues and seem to be generated by a computer robot.

In effect, all replies NO good as none show me how to prevent the KB app (not update) from loading and running after a re-image and before net re connection.....that is, kill it, remove it, delete it, stop it from downloading before it has a chance to run.....

Are you on Version 1607? Check at Settings > System > About.

If so I'd download Version 1703 and run it as an Upgrade over your present install.

Then see if it loses the Update, or accepts and installs it.

Also there is nothing anywhere on the internet or in Microsoft including the database of all Microsoft Windows Updates, for that KB number. It would not have a KB number if it wasn't a Windows Update. Can you reconfirm the KB number again?

Here is the download for v.1703: https://tb.rg-adguard.net/public.php

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try updating the Network adapter driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Try Rolling back and then Uninstalling the Network adapter driver in Device Manager. Right click Start to open Device Manager, choose the Network adapter you're using, on Driver tab choose Roll back, restart PC. If that doesn't help try Uninstall, restart to reinstall.

If nothing else works check which version of WIndows 10 you're running at Settings>System>About. If not 1709 what I would do if you haven't yet is manually install Fall Creator Version 1709 by installing Media Creation Tool and choosing to Upgrade Now. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... This the most stable method to upgrade to the new version (which you need anyway) and will bring you fully up to date with reinstalled Windows that often will solve any other problems you have.

Check at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates for the WIndows Update installed before this problem started. You can uninstall it from the link there to see if the problem goes away.

You can also try to System Restore to a point before the problem began: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

Then after a restart immediately run the Hide Updates tool to block the problem Update: https://www.howtogeek.com/224471/how-to-prevent...

If still no luck then I'd download the latest media for your version of Windows 10 from this site, click on the ISO or open the bootable media, right click Setup to run it as a Repair Install: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-scienc...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
