Display driver failed to start/Blackscreen

This issue began recently, I can use my desktop freely however when I try to play a game my displays flicker and go black. I can still hear sounds and even talk on discord. I am unable to use the pc though requiring me to reboot the computer. I have tried a number of different solutions such as updating drivers, uninstalling drivers in safe mode and downloading previous and current drivers again. I have reinstalled windows two different times, once keeping my files the other doing a full wipe of my data. I reseated my graphic card, have tried to low my clock speeds on my card as well. I have tried Asus and Nvidia tech support still no fix. Current driver installed is the Nvidia 391.35. Bios Updated 3/18/2018. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey thanks for responding, after going through these steps I didn't feel comfortable doing this on my own. I wouldn't want to make things worse.

Instead I took my pc into a local repair shop and was told my gpu was the problem. I've had the gpu for a little over two years and no problem until now. I'm not entirely convinced it's that considering the circumstances and what I've seen other people online dealing with. Very rarely seems to be hardware. I will be bringing my pc to a friends house to test the gpu on his system. If it fails to work then I could assume the gpu is the problem. However if it works then I'm going to be in a tough spot. Everything I have tried has ceased to work for me. Not entirely sure what to do with my little expertise on computers and such.

As you have reinstalled windows, you cannot go back to 1709. However, if you can afford one more clean install, you can do of 1709. ISOs are here:

So I have run down this list and tried all the above. Still getting the Display driver failure after just 1 minute of being in a game. Sadly I could not restore windows to a previous version because I completely reinstalled Windows OS earlier today. That may have been what worked, oh well.

I did notice how you mentioned there seems to be issues with Windows 10 1803, what will be my best option at this point? I am out of ideas on how to fix this issue that just randomly began. Thanks again for your help and response.

Edit: if it helps I can post my Event log for any errors
