System jerky

Streaming videos have been getting caught up and I wondered if it was the graphics card/driver. However, as I'm exploring this issue, I notice that my whole system is doing it. For instance, even as I'm typing this, there are many times that the cursor will stand still and then type things out all at once. Searching/moving the window up and down is the same. This seems to be correlating with the noises (fan etc, you know you can kind of "hear" your computer thinking) coming from my laptop itself.

Windows 10

Intel i5 processor

Intel HD Graphics 5500

Only about half of my memory is being used per the task manager

All updates have been installed

This maybe an issue with a system file being corrupt.

You can try a couple things.

Right click your start button and select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

In Command prompt type sfc /scannow and press enter.

Restart the computer.

If that doesn't work then try this,

Right click your start button and select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands.

Press Enter key after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions.

To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.

Restart your computer.

    Hi,

What about your CPU usage and background apps? Check those in Task Manager, maybe that's a problem. That's something I have experienced and it turned out to be a dying hard drive. So I'd recommend that you check on your HDD.

Do it by pressing Win+X on your keyboard and selecting Windows PowerShell (Admin). First, type wmic and hit Enter. After that, type diskdrive get status. If it says OK, then your disk drive is fine.

You could also try to run chkdsk C: /ffrom PowerShell.

Hope it does the trick. In case of any issues, I'm happy to help you more when needed. If it worked, please mark the answer as helpful.
