Hi,
I need to update BIOS on the Dell machine which is being used by users.

I would like to know what will be the best way of doing this

Will it be best to do it through a Task sequence or create an application and push it to the machine?

When I want to update the BIOS I would like to reboot the machine rather than leave for sccm client to reboot the machine.

    Hi @lalajee ,

You can use either a task sequence or deploy the BIOS using a custom script as well. There is also another way provided by Dell, Dell Command Suite (Configure etc), take a look of that, maybe can answer your need.

    Check also this:

There are so many ways to do this, the "Best" way is really whatever you find is best for you.
We are using a Task Sequence for total control and logging.
I've used the application model before too: https://garytown.com/updating-dell-bios-with-configmgrpost-3the-application-deployment

You can leverage Dell's tool as Youssef has said. You can install Dell Command Update on the devices, then trigger those to install Drivers & BIOS via command lines.

    Hi @lalajee ,

When I want to update the BIOS I would like to reboot the machine rather than leave for sccm client to reboot the machine.

When completed it will note the update was successful and the computer will restart back to our normal Windows log in screen.

Based on my understanding, BIOS is the core component in fullBasic Input/Output System, so it will restart once when the update is installed on the side of system.

I would really recommend to look into 3rd party updates which is fully internal SCCM feature which does provide this capability and it is easy to use. Just be carefull that you don't sync entire data you are offered, but only the stuff for specific models you need, other wise it will bloat your SUSDB.
