Hi

Is it possible to move a OneNote notebook from one OneDrive account to another?

And if it is possible, does the new account has to have office 365 assigned to his account?

    Hi Ori,

    Yes, it's possible.

If both of your accounts have Office 365 subscription, it will be much easier.

    Please follow the steps below:

1.Open the notebook you want to move in OneNote 2016.

2.Click File > Export > Notebook > OneNote Package and Export this notebook.

3.Sign out your account A, and sign in OneNote 2016 with your account B, go File > Share.

It will alert you that this notebook have to be saved on OneDrive or SharePoint before sharing.

4.Click OneDrive and browse a location where you want to save this notebook. After the syncing process is finished, then you have already moved this notebook.

Meanwhile, I would like to mention, in this way, the changes you have made on this notebook won't sync to account A's notebook. If you want the changes to be synced ,

you can just share this notebook to account B.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

    Hi Ori,

Yes, it's possible to move this notebook to another account which don't have Office 365 subscription.

To simplify the situation, I will use "account A" to represent your work account and "account B" for another account.

    Please follow the steps below:

1.If your notebook haven't been uploaded to OneDrive, please refer to this article, upload your notebook to  account A's OneDrive.

2.Open OneNote for Windows 10 which is free to every user. Login in with  "account A" and  "account B".

3.Click More Notebooks on the left panel and choose the notebook you want to move, meanwhile you need to create a new notebook with "account B", that's where the notebook in "account A" is going to stored.

4.Open the notebook, right click on the section you want to move, and choose Move/Copy, Choose Account B's note and click Copy.

5.Repeat step4 until all your notebook has been moved.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

    Hi Alex

    Thanks for the reply

    I have a few questions:

    1. You wrote open OneNote for Windows 10 - I have OneNote 2016 and I have Windows 10, Is this the app I need or is there any other OneNote app? is it the desktop app or the online app?

In my Desktop App I don't see "More Notebooks" on the left panel

    Here is the print screen:

Waiting for your further assistance on clarifying the action.

    Thanks

    Hi Ori,

The whole notebook transfer procedure I demonstrated is based on OneNote for Windows 10, since your another account doesn't have Office 365 subscription, it's the only way to transfer your notebooks.

About  "More Notebooks", it's the feature in OneNote for Windows 10, so you won't see it in your OneNote 2016.

Both of OneNote for Windows 10 and OneNote 2016 are Desktop app, but they do have difference, check here for more information.

If you don't have this app in your PC, you may need to download from Microsoft Store.
