I need to delete an applet which is located in C:\username|appdate\localLow, and the folder needs to be deleted by using windows explorer. Can you assist in showing me how to see the appdata folder it is hidden?

This is a little confusing because the environment variable %APPDATA% actually refers to c;\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming and %LOCALAPPDATA% refers to c:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local. The folder you want is on the same level as that.

Click Start or tap the  key and type or paste in,

%APPDATA%..\LocalLow

... then hit Enter↵. If the Show hidden files, folders and drives option is not already turned on, tap Alt and select Tools, Folder Options, View and do so.

Another option is to Click Start or tap the  key and type or paste in explore but do not hit Enter↵. Locate  from the Programs section of the list above and right-click then Run as administrator. Acknowledge the UAC confirmation and supply credentials if requested. When Explorer opens, click in the address bar and type or paste in,

%APPDATA%..\LocalLow

... then hit Enter↵. This method allows you elevated privileges if you need to perform an operation that is not normally allowed for your user level.

In either case you should have an Explorer window open to your LocalLow folder.

>>>>C:\username|appdate\localLow

There is an omission in the above line.

IT should be..... C:\users(your username)\AppData\LocalLow

(your username) = the name you use in your computer. Mine would have been ... dhhuang

Start > Computer > left column.....

expand C: ( click the pointer in front of C: )

expand users

expand (your username)

expand AppData

click LocalLow .......... whatever you are looking for will be in that folder.

Before you trash Windows 8 and install Windows 7, make sure that there are adequate drivers for video, networking, etc for Windows 7. It sounds as if the computer was purchased with Windows 8 so you need to make sure that Windows 7 will operate properly on your machine before committing to it.

I do not want to appear to be 'passing the buck' but a question with this much scope would be better off asked as a new thread in the Windows 8 forum where it will receive individual focus from the experts there. You should be able to largely copy and paste your reply here into a new thread for that forum.

I need to go in and uninstall Java and I am told to       go to C::Users%username%\AppData\LocalLow and I cannot do this on this stupid          Windows 8 program.  I just hate this program,  How can I uninstall the Java program so I can reinstall it correctly.    Please tell me how I can put Windows 7 on this new computer I just bought a couple months ago.  I have to go to my office just to do some work I want to          do at home because I can't get this stupid system to work.  How do I get rid of a program or attachment I have pulled  up when there is no little red x.  Doing what you say just  switches to another tile but that attachment never goes away.  Please help me and tell me how I can install Windows 7 on this computer.  I am going to throw this computer out one of these days I am so frustrated.  I have a zipform on a screen and I cannot get rid of it so I am trying to uninstall Java.   Help.  Alice
