Azure Cosmos DB: Can't set throughput to manual when adding database

I'm trying to add a new database inside Azure Cosmos DB but I'm not allowed to set the throughput to manual.
In a newly created directory and cosmos-db resource, I have the option to select manual as throughput.

Does anyone know why and what the requirements are for selecting throughput?

Hi @Dean Kmet , welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

This is very specific behavior on Free tier where while provisioning the throughput at database level, only autoscale option is available.

i am checking the same with internal product group to seek their inputs and will get back to you at the earliest.
