Cannot setup yahoo mail on Outlook 2019 (imap & pop)

Hi, I tried to add an email account @yahoo.com on Outlook 2019 by using the IMAP and SMTP settings but I still have the same message box telling me that the incoming connection to the IMAP server fails. Then it kindly ask me to check my email/pwd. My webmail connection works perfectly with this email/pwd (I retyped it manually) Thre is no FW restriction because I can open a socket on port 993 with the imap.mail.yahoo.com server I had no problem with @gmail.com and @hotmail.com email accounts Any suggestions please ? (same message after trying POP connection) Thx ;) Here are the parameters when trying IMAP : Incoming imap.mail.yahoo.com / port 993 / encryption SSL/TLS Outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo.com / port 465 / encryption SSL/TLS

Login to Yahoo via a web browser on your PC and make sure two factor authentication is turned off. Now generate one time App password on yahoo and use it in outlook to add the account

Hi @cc-0519,

Welcome to our forum.

I had no problem with @gmail.com and @hotmail.com email accounts

Considering you could configure other accounts on your Outlook 2019, there may be no issue on your outlook client, and the issue may be more related to your account itself or the configuration on Outlook.

As I know, if Outlook won’t accept your password and you know you’re using the password for your Yahoo! account, your email account likely requires additional security--two-factor authentication and application password, which may cause your issue.

In this case, it's suggested to go to the Yahoo website from your browser, turn on the two-factor authentication and configure your account with application password in Outlook to check if the issue has any difference. For more information, please refer to this article : Can't add an Yahoo! email account to Outlook

If the issue still exists, in order to further analyze your issue, it's also suggested to log in your account to other outlook client to check if your yahoo account could work normally there.

If your issue has any update, please feel free to post back.

IMAP : Incoming imap.mail.yahoo.com / port 993 / encryption SSL/TLS Outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo.com / port 465 / encryption SSL/TLS

Then went into Yahoo Mail, Account Security, App password, generated a 16 digit password for Outlook, copied and pasted the password in Outlook.

Bingo, I was able to add my Yahoo mail account to Outlook.
