How do I remove a hardware update from Windows 11 Update?

The title pretty much says it all. I have an HP Probook with Conexant sound, and it keeps retrieving an old update for installation. I get this message: "Conexant - MEDIA - 7/3/2018 12:00:00 AM - 8.65.262.0" followed by "Install error - 0x80070103" every time it tries to install. It then appears again in the queue. How do I remove it?

    Hello rranger,

Good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

Note: It is always recommended to download and install drivers from the manufacturer's Support page. If you're not experiencing any hardware issues, there's no need to install this driver update.

Please try using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver updates. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the driver update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Hi John:

Thank you for the reply, but the tool did not work. In fact, Edge tried to block it as a threat. But I ran it anyway and it did nothing. Any other thoughts?

I've tried everything advised on this site and others. The only thing that finally ended up working for me was the second method (How to Flush SoftwareDistribution Folder) described on this site: https://technclub.com/guides/install-software-without-admin-rights-windows-10/
