Windows 10, Version 1809. Network does not show computers

In Win10, v 1809 I go to "Network" in file explorer and no computers are showing - neither my computer nor other computers on the network.

I was able to find the ip address of the computer I was searching for and successfully ping it via command prompt.

Any ideas?

"I use the script from a prior post. which is essentially restarting Functional Discovery.as posted by fg2001 using the script (or if want batch file)

    cmd /c net stop FDResPub

    cmd /c net start FDResPub

For now I did put it in Task Scheduler on one machine and may use it on others pay as you go as needed on others since traffic is usually only one way.

    I don't expect a fix until April 2019 update."

     Hi CSAMD,

With Win 10 1803 everything works fine by setting FDResPub service to start as Automatic (No need for Delay start at all), but with Win 10 1809 the service is already started Manually and setting it to Automatic or Automatic (Delay Start) does not help at all.

I already put the restart in the task scheduler as suggested, with one machine it worked by doing it at Startup, but on another machine I had to do it at Login (Any User) because by doing it at Startup it was still failing intermittently.

As for a MS fix, I just hope they wake up and do some better testing. I have 2 other problems in different threads reported with 1809 feedback, but so far no answer or solution :(

Have you seen the new cumulative...?...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4469342/november292018kb4469342osbuild17763167

    December 5, 2018—KB4469342 (OS Build 17763.168)

It says, "Addresses an issue that may cause mapped drives to fail to reconnect after starting and logging onto a Windows device."

I'm unsure that is close enough for a solution, but worth a look.

    Hello PCR,

I installed the updates today and I'm now at build 17763.168, it made no difference for the problem described in this thread, I still had to re-enable the workaround to restart FDResPub to see my computer after a restart.

Again  the problem is only on the machines that have both Ethernet and Wi-Fi adapters and they are connected to the router via Ethernet.

"With Win 10 1809 build 17763.134, I have the problem not showing my computer".

Now I take time to search possible solution for not seeing all PC's on file Expolorer Compuer section.

I got all my PC's back to visible in Win versions 1803, 1809 and 19H1 by resetting network settings.

(Why I didn't think that ever before! So stupid of me.)

Go to Settings / Network / Status, scroll down and click "Network reset" it take about 5 min and then PC reboot automatic. After that all my PC's were visible again no matter which Win version is used.

    Hi fg2001,

Thanks for the additional information with respect to the task parameters. Good work.

I'm glad you have it working on all your computers.

"I don't have this issue on the same machines if I use Win 10 1803, but the bug is solid with 1809."

I have seen this same thing happening: Work well with v1803, v1809 doesn't show all computers, preview 19H1 doesn't show any computer. There is certain direction in development: down.

At least "\PC_name" on file explorer address bar is still working with all versions on those rare cases I need to use shared resources. I have default share of C:\Users -folders and also drive D:\ is shared.
