Microphone isn’t working with Acer Aspire

I have a problem with an old laptop Acer Aspire E5-571P running Windows 10. When I plug my headset into this laptop, headphones work without problems but the microphone records only static sounds. I’ve checked the headset on the other device, it works fine. I’ve also checked the driver - it is up-to-date.

    Hi Mandy

On the end of the cable on your Headset, is there one or two 3.5mm plugs - one each for the Headphones and one for the Mic, or is that one 3.5mm composite plug on that cable?

    Hi Mandy,

My name is Nic and I am an Independent Advisor.

I recommend that you follow the methods below:

Method A: plug the mic into Line In input of the sound card then select Line In as the Default Device. This method should resolve the issue if the microphone input on the computer is mono. Ensure that the Line In device is not muted in Levels.

Method B: Your issue can be caused by distortion. In this case lower the microphone level and raise the master volume of the computer.

Method C: try the instructions from the article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/403488...

Method D: If the above mentioned methods don’t help, I recommend that you update the BIOS, because your issue might be caused by outdated BIOS. Please, contact the Acer support specialists and install the latest version of BIOS.
