Hi Renie, thanks for your question. I'm Graeme, a Microsoft Community expert and fellow user.

If you're opening the images with the Photos app, you could try repairing or resetting the app. This will return the Photos app to its original unused state:

    • Click Start and type "apps & features".
    • Select Apps & Features.
    • Find the app in the list and select it.
    • Click Advanced Options
    • Click Repair, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, try Reset.

Test if the problem is resolved. If it isn't, try the System File Checker:

    • Click Start and type cmd.
    • Right-click Command Prompt and run it as administrator.
    • Type sfc /scannow
    • Press Enter.

If you're still having trouble, try opening the pictures while in Safe Mode. Here are instructions to do so:

Please let me know how you go! Thanks!

In that case, give this a try:

    https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-reinstall-a...

It's an article explaining how to reinstall the default Windows 10 apps, including Photos, using Powershell. It often fixes issues with the default apps.

Let me know how you go!

    Hello,

Thank you for your response. I tried the first two suggestions, unfortunately, I’m still having the same problem.

I can open photos with other apps, such as Windows Photo Viewer, Paint, Quick Time etc... I just cannot open with Microsoft Photos for some reason.

    thank you for your help.
