From windows start ...settings...update I elected to install the latest win10 update, version 2004.

Everything was going smoothly, but slowly over a few hours. However, after maybe the final reboot, I have the screen showing "working on updates" and a percentage. The percentage gradually increased until it reached 90%. It stalled there, for more than 12 hours. The rotating "busy" icon keeps rotating, but percentage is not changing.

Might also try from a clean boot.

    Hi,

Also make sure you have sufficient disk space available, you can run the Windows 10 Update Assistant to check the prerequisites.

Sometimes disconnecting or disabling all networking at this point will push the Windows upgrade through to completion. If Ethernet, disconnect the network cable. For wireless, you might have to temporarily power off the Wi-Fi router, if there is no way to disable it on the upgrading device.

    Hi,

You might check the following maybe block the upgrade:

    • You need to ensure you have 10 to 16 GBs of free space.
    • If there is a SD card installed, uninstall it or disable it.
    • Disconnect any USB drives.

Another way users have been able to successfully install the update is by using the Update Assistant. Go to the following page then click 'Update Now':

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Hope above information can help you.
