Hi all,

I am considering using the Modern Hybrid Agent for a customer who does not currently expose Exchange services to the internet. In particular for teams calendar integration. I have read the "How Exchange and Microsoft Teams interact" Article.

The Customer need the following:

  • create and view Teams meetings for mailboxes hosted on-premises access by Outlook (new Teams Meeting)
  • create Teams meetings as a Delegate User (for ex. Secretary) both mailboxes hosted on-premises access by Outlook (new Teams Meeting)

Microsoft is not clear in their documentation if it will also work with the new Hybrid Modern Agent configuration and without expose Exchange services to the internet.

A clear statement whether the two tasks are possible with the Modern Hybrid Agent without expose Exchange services to the internet would be helpful.

Regards Steve

It is impossible to work with the new Hybrid Modern Agent configuration.

According to the official document, the hybrid agent is not supported for directory synchronization. As you know, to create Teams meetings for mailboxes hosted on-premises, users must be synchronized to Azure Active Directory.

So, it recommends you leverage the full Classic Exchange Hybrid Topology to use Teams' Calendaring features.
