I was trying to resolve windows update error 0x80080005 and found a solution which says to stop first the wuauserv service but when i tried to do so in cmd I got :

system32>net start wuauserv

the wuauserv service could  not be started

A system error has occured

System error 2 has occured

System cannot find the file specified

How to start it?

because the solution I want to try to resolve 0x80080005 demands to stop it first.

    Hi. RahulKumar97

    My Name is David B.

Independent Advisor I'd like to help.

You can, first, run the Windows Update troubleshooter. Here’s how to do it:

    1. Download the Windows Troubleshooter and then select Open or Save in the pop-up window.

    Notes:

    • If the pop-up item does not appear, you may have a pop-up blocker enabled.

    • If you select Save, you must go to the folder where you downloaded the troubleshooter and double-click on the most recent wu.diagcab file to run it.

    1. Select Next and follow the steps in the wizard to find and repair Windows Update problems.

If the first does not work, in that case I recommend you perform the following support processes:

    1. Confirm if the Windows profile has administrator permissions. To do this, press the Windows + R keys in the Run box type Netplwiz and click OK. Verify that the account indicates Administrator.
    2. Temporarily disable anti-virus programs other than Windows Defender, check with the corresponding developer for the process.
    3. Execute the repair commands in the system. Press the Start key and type the word CMD, right click on the command prompt and select Run as administrator, enter the following commands one at a time followed by the Enter key:

    Sfc / Scannow

    DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Scanhealth

    DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Restorehealth

Note: Each command can take time to execute, do not forget to restart the computer to apply changes.

    Regards...

    Hi. RahulKumar97

To solve this problem you must execute the process with elevation.

Start> Type CMD (Search programs and files)> CMD (right click)> Run as Administrator

Then if you can perform the operation you want.

I hope it serves you, Successes.

    Hello,

If you can't start or stop Windows Update service in Command Prompt, then go to Services snap-in (by running services.msc command) and try to start/stop it from there.

Make sure you're signed as administrator for this operation.

If the services fails to start/stop, run System File Checker scan:

    1. Search for 'command prompt' using Cortana or Windows Search.
    2. From results, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
    3. Type sfc /scannow command and press Enter key.
    4. Let the command complete and then reboot the machine.

If issue still persists, perform clean boot:

    Hope this helps!
