Windows update on boot not shown in update history

Hello Everyone,

I just restarted my Surface Laptop and on restart it said Windows is installing some sort of update, which I found odd since no new updates were previously waiting to be installed.
In Update history there is no entry from today.
I ran the Get-Windowsupdatelog command and the machine was doing something, but I can't make any sense of it.
I can provide the log if necessary.

I am a worried because I had a Stack-/ Bufferoverflow error message pop up a few days ago.
I ran an antivirus scan which hasn't found any malicious software.

Usually I have very safe browsing and downloading habits, non the less I am worried something weird might be going on.
Is this worry justified?

Kind regards,
Johannes

    Hi Johannes,
If you use C or C++ TO develop on the computer, Error: stack-buffer-overflow is not a problem, check the following document to deal with it.
    Error: stack-buffer-overflow
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/sanitizers/error-stack-buffer-overflow?view=msvc-160
Since antivirus scan hasn't found any malicious software, I think your device is safe.
About installed-updates view, you could check the Windows Update history website, compare the latest build with your current build, in general, we don’t need to care about every update, because later update will include all content of previous updates, install the latest SSU and CU is enough.
For 20H2 version, March 18, 2021—KB5001649 is the latest.
