How to Download Templates in MS Word 2016 64bit?

Question

I just installed MS Office 2016 64bit onto OS X 10.15 Catalina. When I launch MS Word or Excel there are no templates. When I select Download Templates I receive an error saying Sorry, the templates aren't available right now. Please try again in few minutes. I've tried many times over the past week and still receive the same error.

I attempted to Check for Updates using Microsoft AutoUpdate and it never connects. Is this a MS problem or could something on our network be blocking this just for this version of Office?
