Error message popping up frequently, even when no Office program is running

I've been getting an error message every 30 minutes or so with this message, even when no Microsoft Office programs are running.

"C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftOfficeHub...\LocalBridge.exe

The parameter is incorrect."

I tried both the offline and online repair of Office and rebooting and the error message persists.  I can still use all Office programs as normal, but the error popping up often is very annoying and I'd like to get rid of it.

Hello! The error comes from the integrated "Microsoft Office Apps" (i do not mean Mircosoft Office 365 oder other versions). The mentioned "Office" is part of windows 10.

    There are 2 possible solutions:

    Solution 1: Reset the App

Go to "Settings/Apps" scroll to "Office" choose "Advanced options" und select "reset" in the upcoming dialog

    Solution 2: Uninstall the App

What helped me: Uninstall the App called "Office" (NOT "Microsoft Office 365" oder other versions)

You can use the other installed Version of e.g. "Microsoft Office 365" as usual.

    Hi Cole,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand your query related to Microsoft Office error popping up on your PC screen. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

    1. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?
    2. Are you aware of any changes made to the pc prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?
    3. Do you have Microsoft Office installed from Microsoft Store?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

If you have Microsoft Office UWP app installed on the PC, then you can try uninstalling it and see if the error message appears again.

    1. Press Windows + I keys together to open Settings.
    2. Now click on Apps and select Apps & Features
    3. Search for Get Office app and then click on it
    4. Now click on Uninstall

In case you are facing issues in uninstalling the application, then you can use PowerShell commands to uninstall the app.

    1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Accept the UAC prompts, if you receive any
    3. Now copy paste the command and hit Enter:

Get-AppxPackage|? name -like MicrosoftOfficeHub|remove-appxpackage 4. Restart the PC.

In addition, if the issue persists, then you can try performing Clean Boot on the PC and check. Refer the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after performing a clean boot on the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.

If the error disappears after performing Clean Boot, then you can refer the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot from the Clean Boot article.

Note: Please refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting to boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi,

I checked under Apps and Features and there is no Get Office app

I ran the command in PowerShell and rebooted but the error persisted.
