Unable to install 8.1 (Error code 0xC1900101-0x3000D)

Attempted to upgrade Windows 8.0 to 8.1 three times today, each time upon install and restart, after the windows logo I am given a black screen with only my mouse cursor. Task manager will not run, (No response from Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Esc).

No change occurs after waiting on the black screen for more than one hour. Forcing restart causes the computer to recover Windows 8 and I am given the message that 8.1 can not be installed and the error code 0xC1900101-0x3000D

The black screen makes me suspects a graphic driver issue with the update (Running GeForce GTX660).

Windows 8 Pro, Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GhZ, 64-bit (x64-based processor).
