2020-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4532693)

My update is frozen at Installing 0% (with three others pending install).

I have rebooted several times. I have allowed 20-30 minutes before rebooting and to just sit for hours, even overnight, and nothing helps initiate it.

Should I just do a system restore?  Is there another way to kick off the update?

    Hello J.C Hendrickson!

My name is Marco and I am an Independent Advisor. I will do my best to help you.

Apparently this update has several bugs. Sometimes it creates a temporary user account for you. In this case, you have to uninstall it awaiting a correction.

What I understand of your situation is that you can no longer enter Windows? That's right ?

Instead of rebooting, did you try to just shut the computer down completely and reopen it?

If nothing changes, yes you can do a system restore at an earlier date, if you have the option ...

or try to boot in safe mode to remove this update

I am having a similar issue with this update. It installs to about 20% then fails every time. I have tried a few things suggested on the web, to no avail. I am wondering if I should bother with this update? (2020-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4532693)).

Hi Marco.  (Make sure you read this Edited version of my Reply) Thanks for your concern and reply.  Sorry that I was not as clear as I should have been.  First, was able to get into my computer. It was just that when I checked Updates, the update was stuck on installing the first package, kb4532693, at 0%.  I tried rebooting as I described above but I did not include that the computer hung on Shutting Down.  Each time I did the same as you suggested; I held in the power button until it shut down. Each time I went back to see what was happening, if anything, with the update.  Each time it was stuck at 0%.

Since posting my problem, I just went back to check the computer and the updates. It was at 25%.  I left it to come to this computer to reply to you and now I see I since have received the install error 0800736b5.  I clicked retry but I doubt that is going to work.

I will do a System Restore after that fails and wait for Microsoft to do a fix for this update.

I just went to try that but the option is grayed out.  I am not able to do a system restore.  Is there a path to where the updates that have been downloaded are able to be deleted?  I assume they cannot be there or a Registry adjustment needs to be made in order to receive any update when it is fixed.

    Thanks,

    John
