windows 11 headphones sound problem

I've been having this problem since i upgraded to windows 11. basiclly yesterday

Apparently my headphones are sounding in a very low quality after updating, but the problem is not the headphones themselves as I have tried some wireless ones and others that are not.

I already tried to change the settings of my equalizer and the truth is that it is the only tide in which they do not sound so bad, I went into the advanced settings and deactivated the audio improvements, spatial sound, among other things.

for games it is the worst because I have to turn up the volume a lot to listen to things that are "far away" from me, and when something sounds and it is close to me, it basically bursts my ears, I do not know if it has to do with the update or something else but it is very annoying and I would like to fix it as soon as possible

EDIT:

SOLUTION BY P911T

Hello there

so the thing is:

if you ever had these phones connected to windows 10, they were always connected as 2 different devices....

headphones and headset (at least all mine BT headphones with mic worked like this), and they work exactly as you describe here...

as long as you are playing games and using headphones just for listening, quality of sound is very good (but mic is not working)

the moment you start using headset, for communication, quality of sound lowers itself, but the spoken word is better to be understood.

I have win 11 installed like for 2 days, but already figured out that windows had connected both devices into one...one of many very bad decisions in win 11

so at this moment your only SOLUTION, is to: turn off headset in "recording" tab, you headphones just switch themself into headphone mode

It would really helps, to have option to switch between headphones and headset manually without need to turn mic off...but...

so I don't think it's bug, I believe it's done on purpose

I have this exact issue with games. I lower my volume because it’s so loud but then I can’t hear anything “far away”. I raise my volume and it hurts my ears. This bug makes it so unplayable im not trying to damage my ears. Please reply if anyone has fixed this.

I tried all the links and YouTube videos Greg posted they did not seem to fix the issue.

Same issue. Games are unplayable. Its either footsteps or my ears. Have you got the fix? Kindly update if you find something.

Also this happened before and i think when i put my laptop to sleep while the headphones were plugged in? Idk but it automatically fixed itself back then but now it not going anywhere and it’s infuriating.
