Display image vibrates / shakes / jitters / is blurry

About a few days ago, the screen on my Surface Pro 4 started intermittently looking like it was 'vibrating'.

That is, the images on the screen, including lines, pictures, and text, seem to be moving or duplicate just a pixel or two to the top/bottom.

If I'm using the mouse or touch, it doesn't occur. But if I just let it sit for more than a minute, the vibration occurs.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the display adapters, uninstalling recent updates and programs.

Next thought might be a complete reload....

Anyone else experience the same and find a solution?

    Hi Jeffrey,

Screen flicker/jitter can be due several reasons like display driver issue and app issues. Reinstalling the display drivers is a good way to start troubleshooting the issue.  Just to verify, were you able to check if the task manager flickers? You can right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen and then select Task Manager.

    • If Task Manager doesn't flicker, an app is probably causing the problem.
    • If Task Manager does flicker, a display driver is probably causing the problem.

Furthermore, we recommend that you run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. The SDT resolves common Surface issues. The diagnosis may take 15 minutes or less, but can take an hour or longer and depending on your internet connection speed and on the repairs that the tool needs to do to fix the problems.

Click here to run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Give us an update, and let us know if you have any additional concerns.

    Regards.

Thank you for the information. If the task manager flickers even after reinstall the driver, there's a possibility that the problem is caused by a hardware-related issue.

If you're in the US, you can go to the nearest physical retail Microsoft Store and have your Surface checked/replaced. However, you might want to consider resetting your Surface to factory settings before asking for a replacement. Resetting your Surface may help resolve common issues and could save you time and effort. For more info, see Restore or reset Surface.

You can go to Device service and repair to check if your Surface is in or out of warranty, or contact our Global Support for assistance.

Please post back here if you have any other concerns.

    Regards.

    Thanks.

    Yes Task Manager flickers.

    Have tried display driver re-install.

Have also tried the diagnostic kit.

    Any other options to try?

Thank you for the information. You might want to try disabling the Hyper-V, see if it helps. Here's how:

    1. Press Windows key + X.
    2. Click Programs and Features.
    3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Expand Hyper-V.
    5. Uncheck it.

Furthermore, please ensure that the latest updates are installed on your Surface. We'll be waiting for your reply.

    Regards.

The bottom 1/3 of my screen began shaking 2 months ago.  Now, periodically, it moves up to 1/2 of the screen.  I followed all directions by Voun Tia, but nothing works.  My surface is completed updated.

Please provide a successful solution soon.
