Info: acgenral.dll is a module associated with Microsoft:registered: Windows:registered: Operating System from Microsoft Corporation.

Non-system processes like acgenral.dll originate from software you installed on your system. Since most applications store data on your hard disk and in your system's registry, it is likely that your computer has suffered fragmentation and accumulated invalid entries which can affect your PC's performance.

    Source: https://www.processlibrary.com/en/directory/fil...

So open task manager est end acgenral.dll process.

Press crtl+ shit + esc to open task manager, and click on "processes" tab .

Select acgenral.dll and click " end process"

Now click on "Windows + r " keys and type: appwiz.cpl

In the application list see if you have a new microsoft program that could be causing this DLL conflict and uninstall it.

If you are not sure, you can show me the complete list with a screenshot.

Also if you return to the task manager, in the 'start' tab look at the list of programs that open at startup, you may find the one that is harmful. Otherwise you can also send me the list.

If you recently installed Microsoft Office Access 2010 (or associated software), uninstall and then try reinstalling Microsoft Office Access 2010 software.

Or you can try a system restore from an earlier date.

Go directly in the section: Restore from a system restore point on the link beleow.

No I didn't install any Office software recently.  I did restore from a restore point going back to 5/4 but that didn't solve the problem.  Since the issue seems to come from the file AcGenral.dll how do I fix it?  Also I wasn't able to install the update KB4549951 (stuck at 30% and then the system reversed it by itself).  Would that be the reason why I have all these problems?

    Thanks.

Hello, my name is Marco and I am an Independent Advisor. I will do my best to help you.

Let's try these commands before we move on to something else.

Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)

Note: Respect the spaces or simply copy / paste the commands.

    • Click on windows start button, type CMD
    • Right click on " prompt command " and " run as admin "
    • Now type this commands

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    • Press Enter.
    • Then, this command and Enter.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    • Then make the following commands.

    sfc /scannow

When the scan is finished, check if there are any errors detected.

    Hi,

Thanks for the answer.  I did all that but the system seems to have found "no component store corruption" and the subsequent scan turns up no "integrity violations".  I'm still seeing the same error message every time I try to access control panel, device manager or iTunes.  What do you think?

    Thanks.
