How do I stop certain folders from syncing to onedrive?

I play sims 4 and have downloaded quite a bit of extra content for it. Unfortunately, this has all saved to my onedrive, filling it up completely. Is there a way of stopping just this folder from syncing, and leaving the rest of my documents to sync?

I have researched this so much but all of the directions say to move the Sims folder to my desktop / somewhere local. The problem is that I can't seem to find anywhere actually local. Whenever I create/delete folders on what I think is my local documents file, it automatically connects them to onedrive and deleting them from onedrive deletes them from local.

This is quite frustrating and I would really appreciate a solution that isn't just "move sims to your local folder".

    Hi Molly,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you.

To stop a certain folder from syncing on OneDrive, you may deselect it on the OneDrive settings.

    1. Right-click on the OneDrive icon on the system tray (bottom-right part of the screen).
    2. Click on More and click on Settings.
    3. Click on the Account tab and click on Choose folders.
    4. Uncheck the folder that you don't want to sync on OneDrive, you may expand each folder by clicking the arrow beside it.

I hope the information I provided will help you. If you need further assistance please do reply back and I will respond as quickly as possible. Have a nice day.

    Hello Molly,

You could check using the tutorial below to see if you are able to open the Choose folders settings in OneDrive, expand open the Documents folder, uncheck the folder Sims 4 is using, and click on OK.

    Hi Wilfred,

As I understand it, the "choose folders" option allows me to choose the folders which I want onedrive to sync to my computer, as in the other way around than I need it. Unselecting a folder removes it from my computer but keeps it in onedrive.

I have actually found my local documents folder that I can save to without it interacting with onedrive. However, sims 4 automatically creates its folder within the onedrive section and I don't know if there is a way to tell it to create the folder elsewhere, so my issue still stands.
