I'm currently using 'Windows 10 Pro' and my windows has been activated by my organisation's activation service. But i kept getting notification that my windows license will expire soon, it started happening after windows update.

I've tried using slmgr /upk and logging out of my microsoft account but none of that seems to work, I suspect that this is caused by the windows update because before the update I never get this notification.

    Hello,

First, check the type of license installed on your system.

    1. Open administrative Command Prompt.
    2. Type slmgr /dlv and press Enter key.
    3. Note the Product Key Channel section Windows Script Host box:

If it mentions OEM <method>, you’ve OEM license installed.

If it says Retail, you’ve retail license installed.

If it mentions GVLK, VOLUME_<method> then you’ve volume license installed. Note that GVLK stands for Generic Volume License Key.

Retail license users facing this issue, run Activation troubleshooter:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/20527/windows-10-activation-troubleshooter

Contact Microsoft Support or license vendor, if issue still persists.

In case if it reports that you've volume license installed, then it is not a valid license to be used by end users (correct me, if your system is part of organization).

In this case, you need to buy genuine license for your Windows 10.

    Hope this helps!

Windows 10 Pro volume license clients are used by large organizations that deploy Windows 10 in bulk to hundreds or thousands of computers. Sometimes, users will copy these organization keys off the Internet and use them to install Windows 10 Pro, but they are blocked from activating because it can't reach appropriate KMS host (Server computer) which handles the activation request. They also expire every 180 days if they are not able to contact the central server.

It appears the activation is being managed by your organization, so I suggest you contact your system administrator for further assistance.

Yup, its a Windows 10 Pro Volume License KMS client. You need to purchase a genuine license.

Whoever installed it, might have installed a volume license (organization key) on your computer.
