Bitlocker doesn't give me option to save recovery key to Microsoft account

In general, when saving the recovery key, there is an option "Save to your Microsoft account". I don't have that option. I only have save to a USB or print the key.

Does it have something to do with me being connected to my organization's network and not having access to that option? Can anyone direct me to where I would go in order to enable this option? I have admin access but I just don't know where to go in order to enable this specific thing for Bitlocker. Thanks.

If you have both a personal Microsoft account and a company Azure AD account registered on your PC, Bitlocker only allows you to backup the recovery keys to the Azure AD account. This is a flaw in my opinion. Bitlocker should give you the option to select the account where you'd like to backup your recovery keys.

Try to use your Microsoft account as login account, then enable BitLocker again.

I ever meet with a similar case, a user who connect a school account in his device, and he can’t save BitLocker recovery key to Microsoft account.

    Hi!
I have the same problem on Windows 11.

My main WIndows account is a Microsoft Account but I also have a company account in my Outlook wich Windows recognizes in Settings - Accounts.

I guess that's the couse I don't see the "save recovery key to Microsoft account" option.

Is there a way to force it? I want to save it on my Microsoft Account.

    Thanks
    Jack

It should give you an option to save the bitlocker key to your OneDrive or MS account. You can try to log-in to OneDrive.live.com/recoverykey to check if the bitlocker key is there.

    Hello,

I believe you first need to switch from your local account to Microsoft account. Then the option to Save to your Microsoft account should appear.

    Hope this helps!
