ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration on hyper-v

Hi all, I have created an window server 2016 on azure RDP and added the Hyper-V. I have created an virtual network as external type form my default network LAN on azure RDP. After i attached the virtual network on my new virtual machine i unable to get internet access i saw the "ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration" on network troubleshoot. Anything i missed??

In virtual switch manager , during creating external virtual switch you need to select an physical NIC from the drop down list under "external network" .

If you checked "Allow management operating system to share .." there will be an virtual NIC with the name like " vEthernet(virtual switch) " in network connections of hyper-v host (this virtual NIC will inherit the properties of original physical NIC , MAC and IP Address ,etc..) .

After creating the external Vswitch , you may connect the VM's NIC to that virtual switch in VM settings .

Hi @Weily thanks ur reply, so far i follow the ur suggested procedure. Before doing these i saw only one LAN connection is present on my windows server RDP called Ethernet 2 and have full network access. After creating the virtual network(latest virtual network) a new virtual LAN is created and inherit properties from Ethernet 2. After these the Ethernet 2 has no internet access and latest virtual network have network access.

I have created an virtual machine on hyper-v and added the latest virtual network but still no luck. These make any problem for me and also sure i am using azure RDP.

Can we able to use DCHP on the RDP machine???

Hi,

How does the VM obtain ip address, by DHCP or static? Please connect to your VM and run cmd “ipconfig /all” as administrator, and see if you have any available IP settings.

Please note that if you want to provide us with any screenshots, please cover the private information for security concern.

Thanks for your time,

Best regards,

Danny
