Hello everyone,

After having windows 10,20H2 update ,We are having BSOD issue in some of the devices. So we have contacted Microsoft support.

They advised to do Inplace upgrade on the affected devices.

we tried Inplace upgrade using Media creation tool, but we are getting error,86202-error.png

Can anyone please brief how can we do Inplace upgrade from Intune(MEM).

@Shalini Toppo Thanks for your response. From your description, I know that it is successful to update windows via 20H2 iso and you want to make it via intune.

For this requirement, it is suggested to try to convert 20H2 iso file to ".intunewin" file and deploy this file via win32 app. We can read the following article as a reference:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/apps-win32-add

Hope the above information can give you some idea.

@Shalini Toppo Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, there are only window 10 update ring policy and windows 10 feature update policy that are related to windows update in intune. However, intune just deploy policy and doesn't provide update service. The device gets updates depending on where it originally got updates from.

Given this situation, it is suggested to try to click on "Update now" in the following link to update.

Hope the above information will help.

    @Lu Dai-MSFT , thanks for the advise.
We have already tried that, but as I told ,our devices are running on current version i.e Win10 version 20H2.
So its not getting any updates.
We have tried to Inplace upgrade using 20H2 iso ,and that's ran smoothly.
Now we want to do it from Intune, because many of the devices are in remote location.
We want to do 20H2 inplace upgrade for the devices which are already running 20H2 version.
So ,please suggest if there is any other way to do that.

Did you find the root cause for BSOD? It seems you are trying to fix a symptom and not the problem.
