Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if windows IoT is intended to play a server role. Actually I think all IoT devices are intended to play a client role since they gather context info and send it to a server which manages that info.
I'm tackling a project where we need to build a web server to serve a frontend written in angular which will connect with a backend written in python and I'm curious about Windows IoT capabilities to accomplish this tasks.
What do you think?

There is a Windows Server IoT 2019 that is used for servers

Apparently "Windows Server IoT 2019 is a full version of Windows Server 2019 that delivers enterprise manageability and security to IoT solutions." So it's not actually a Windows IoT version intended to play a server role.
My point is that I need to use an embedded device as a server, and I'm not sure if Windows IoT is suitable to work as a server.
What do you think?

There are many server rolls, but if you are only looking for a web or ftp server, IIS is build into Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. You would have to test this out yourself to see if it meets the demands of your applications.
Ok, so I should try the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, ... the point now is that I have to create the FFU images and I cannot do it with a greater version of 1809 according this repo
Do you know if there is some way to get the Windows 10 Enterprise 1809 version to build the images?

Thank you again for the info, but I've been looking in here and I cannot see any Windows 10 Enterprise iso, so I guess I would contact with some Microsoft Distributor.
The version you are looking for is Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is just a marketing name.
Again, thank you very much, you were completely right, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC works pretty well to create Windows 10 IoT Enterprise FFU images. I have my device working as expected!
My question now is ... You said "IIS is build into Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.", so ... I'm wondering ... should I enable it? how could I do a little test to know if it's actually enabled and working? I've checking for documentation about how to use IIS in Windows IoT but I couldn't find anything useful. Could you recommend me some resources?
