    Hi Elijah,

    • Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

If you receive the error 80244022 while installing updates and apps, it might be caused by a connection interruption between your computer and the Windows Update server.

Let’s try these methods and check if it helps in fixing the issue.

Method 1: Run Windows update troubleshooter and check.

    a. Open Search by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer down), and then tapping or clicking Search.

    b. Tap or click Settings and type troubleshooting in the text box.

    c. Tap or click Troubleshooting from the list of results.

    d. Tap or click Fix problems with Windows Update, click Next and follow the instructions.

    Method 2:

    a. Open Internet Explorer.

    b. Click the Tools button, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

    c. Under Automatic configuration, select the Automatically detect settings check box, and then click OK.

Please post back with the results and we will be happy to assist you further.

I found this answer online.  However, I must apologize, I cannot find the reference anymore, so I can't give credit.

    using REGEDIT go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU

     REG_DWORD: UseWUServer

If you are using WSUS, then this value should be 1.  If you are not, then the value should be 0.

    Restart the Windows Update Service.

Open the Network troubleshooter by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering network troubleshooter in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Identify and repair network problems.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

Thread you posted has mainly to do with the fact that malware might be causing the errors. I will scan for malware then and see what is found.

What  I don't get is why all of a sudden I started getting this error.
