Visual Studio 2019 crashes. Version 16.9.4

Visual Studio 2019 crashes - lockes up. Version 16.9.4 ( older versions of VS 2019 crash too)
WAS WORKING ABOUT 5 UPDATES BACK. Losing work, losing time.

every 15 minutes or so, no rime or reason, other develops here same problem.

This is a plain version, clean re-installs, nothing special, of VS . newest updates. old updates were crashing too.
Updated win 10 pro installs.

It needs a patch.

If you can reproduce this to order, submit a bug report on it via VS's Report a Problem facility. Be sure to supply a sample project and clear instructions on how to reproduce it.

it happens in any project. this started a few upgrades back maybe late January. maybe from a windows update.

we have been working for years in VS. with no issues same projects.

Happens to a number of developers here. Cant believe it only us.

VS keep sending "Error" reports when it is "Busy" (locked screen) it stays busy forever, we sometimes cant "end task" we have to reboot.

Is not anyone reading the VS error reports VS claims its sending to report problem?, about 50 got sent.

I happens while we are just coding on any page behind or web site - project. It's totally random. How can I give you clear instructions to reproduce?

I can include a project, just ASP.net. web site app, but it happens to all web projects.

where exactly do I submit a report?

You're rarely alone with a problem.
Use Help, Send Feedback, Report a Problem.

Have you checked it's not due to an add-in product you're using? Try using SafeMode to check that. If things are OK in SafeMode, use Extensions, Manage Extensions to disable your extensions until you find the culprit.
If you still have the problem in SafeMode, go ahead and report the problem - you may find there that there are others also experiencing it.

I have the exact same problem.

I am opening a ASP.NET Web Forms web site project (not web app)

I might open web.config or it could be a code behind .cs file for an .aspx file and then the problem appears.

Visual Studio Version 16.9.4 just becomes totally unresponsive. I get a notification slide out "Visual Studio is Busy".

It freezes and all I can do is restart the PC.

I wasted all day yesterday until I came across this post.

The only extension I have is Image Optimizer by Mads Kristensen. But I have been using this extension for years with all previous VS version without any problem at all.

Hi John,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Does it work by running your Visual Studio in safe mode?

According to your description, you could report it to product team engineers by selecting “Help” menu > Send Feedback > Report a Problem.

In addition, you can try to delete the hidden .vs, bin and obj folders in the project folder, then, repair your VS by running your VS installer > More > Repair to check if it works.
